Local Projects

LOCAL CHARITIES AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS

EASTER EGGS: Every year the Club donates giant 1Kg Easter Eggs to several primary schools and local charities within the local area.  They raffle the eggs to raise money for their own good causes.  In this way we help/support them financially.  The eggs are popular, especially among schoolchildren, and create awareness of Rotary in the community.

DICTIONARIES/BOOKS:  Before the summer break we donate picture book dictionaries to school leavers at a special needs school.

CHRISTMAS STREET COLLECTIONS:  Volunteers from local charities help us to do our annual street collection with Santa on our Rotary Sleigh, over the 2-3 weeks leading up to Christmas.  The money raised is distributed back to the same charities.

CAR PARKING: We provide Car Parking facilities at Forty Hall Events, where we marshal the car-parking in the meadow of Forty Hill COE Primary School.  A proportion of the money raised is paid to the school, and the remainder is distributed to various local and international charities.

HARDSHIP FUND: We have a separate account where money donated by an anonymous donor is kept.  To honour the wishes of the donor this money is used exclusively in cases of extreme hardship to provide a child with school uniform, shoes etc.
